Inca Trail

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is rated among the best trekking trips in the world because of the exquisite beauty of its natural surroundings. These include different ecological areas from high deserts to Andean tropical rainforest. Following this ancient Inca trail we will be walking through mysterious archeological sites, half covered by jungle overgrowth, that looks like you are discovering them for the first time and finally arriving to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu.
| Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Upon arrival at the airport a host will meet and assist you in transferring to the hotel and help you in registering.
| Day 2: Lima / Cusco
Breakfast at your hotel. Flight to Cusco.Tour of Cusco and its Ruins - This afternoon's tour of the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere includes important landmarks of enchanting Cusco and also the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-pucara, Tampumachay as well as the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Once the center of the Inca civilization, modern Cusco is a delightful combination of Inca and colonial architecture. During the tour, you will visit Cusco's Cathedral, Santo Domingo Church and the Plaza de Armas. (B)
| Day 3: Cusco Km. 82 / Huayllabamba
Transfer from hotel in Cusco to Ollantaytambo town by bus, we will stay at Ollantaytambo about a half hour. Then we will cotinue going by bus until Piskacucho (82 Km.) we will start our trek at this point. We will walk until Wayllabamba town (3100 m.a.s.l.) here we will spend the night. In the trek we will visit the Patallacta Archeological Group. (B,L,D)
WALKING TIME: 6 hours aprox.
| Day 4: Huayllabamba / Pacaymayu
This day we will have to cross the Warmiwañusca pass (4215 m.a.s.l.) where we will be able to see beautiful mountains, valleys, and snowy mountains. After that we will continue walking down to Pacaymayu (2650 m.a.s.l) here we will camp.
WALKING TIME: 7 hours aprox. (B,L,D).
| Day 5: Pacaymayu / Wiñaywayna
In this day we will visit some wonderful archeological sites, some of them are: Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and finally Wiñaywayna (2650 m.a.s.l.) here we will camp. (B,L,D).
WALKING TIME: 7:00 to 8:00 hours aprox.
| Day 6: Wiñaywayna / Machu Picchu
Early in the morning we will walk for about 2 hours until Inti Punku, where we could have a spectacular view of Machupicchu, after that we will continue walking to get the Archeological Sanctuary of Machupicchu, where we will have a guided tour for about 2 and a half hours, after that we will have free time to take pictures, climb to Waynapicchu or just walk around Machupicchu. After that we'll get down by bus to Aguas Calientes town. (B).
| Day 7: Machu Picchu / Cusco
Early morning rise and after breakfast we'll take a bus up to visit the lost city of Machu Picchu. An optional hike for the more dynamic persons on the group would be to hike up to Huaynapicchu, the pyramid shape peak that overlooks Machupicchu. Late afternoon train back to Cusco (B).
| Day 8: Cusco / Lima
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer from to airport for flight to Lima and your connecting flight home. (B)

Maximum weight of luggage to be carried by porters: 6.5 Kilos per person, Extra porters are available at an additional cost.
Sleeping bags are available for rent, at about $15 per day

What to bring:
A mid-size backpack, Thick cotton Socks , Sleeping Bag , Bandana , Rain wear (a large rain poncho), T- Shirts, Flash Light and batteries, Shorts and warm trousers , Water Bottle, Water Purifying Tablets, Sweater and Jacket , Sun block , Hiking boots , Insect Repellent Towel and bathing suit, Coramina (Glucose), Hat , One complete change of clothing
Suggested: Camera, binoculars, snacks, toilet paper, Peruvian currency and your own personal first aid kit and medicines.
Note: The guides will have basic medicines available included oxygen, but we recommend bringing your own ointment for swollen feet, sticking plasters, aspirin, etc.
